Introduction
In the article “What is NLP or the science of neuro-verbal programming?” we introduced this science and stated its basics. In this article, we will explain more and note two fundamental principles of NLP.
What is NLP stands for?
NLP, which stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming, is a science that, as its name suggests, describe with three words. The mentioned words are three critical and influential components of the human experience. These three words are neurology, language, and programming.
The nervous system regulates how our body works in different situations. Language and speech determine how we communicate with ourselves or the world around us. Planning shows what models we consider for interpreting reality and then planning (our mind or others). The combination of these three words creates a science known as neuro-Linguistic programming, which shows how the mind and language work together to influence our body, behavior, and perception of the world around us.
Benefits of NLP
NLP is a practical school of thoughts, and its techniques can cause your personal growth, behavior, and flexibility. Also, this science emphasizes strategic and purposeful thinking and also tries to gain a detailed understanding of the intellectual and mental processes behind behavior. And they are using it to provide solutions to correct that behavior. One of the strengths of this science is that the answers provided are straightforward and wholly explained step by step (just like a computer program). NLP skills introduce advanced tools for personal growth and a system of powerful and energizing beliefs and assumptions about human nature, communication, and how change occurs.
Two basic principles on which NLP is based
1. The map is not the same territory
As human beings, we will never be able to understand reality as it is. We humans always only have our understanding of reality. Our experience of the world around us is shaped by how we present it to ourselves and what emotions and inputs we experience. It is usually not the reality that empowers or limits us but the map we create. We show ourselves from the reality that gives us energy or limits all our powers.
Example
You have probably experienced this in your life; for example, one day when you are entirely energetic and happy, suddenly, at the end of the day, without anything happening, you suddenly see the world completely black and dark. What is the reason for this?
Why, sometimes, even though the reality of your life is ultimately the same and fixed and nothing special happens, do you experience different emotions?
We always only understand our perceptions of reality.
This issue shows that we always only understand our perceptions of reality; in fact, it is as if we only get a map of a big city. This map is not equal to this city itself, and the experience of being in this city is an entirely different experience.
Almost all people have taken a plan and believe that this plan is equal to the whole reality. Many times in your life, for example, because of the departure of a person from your life with whom you had a close love relationship, you were initially very upset and depressed. But after a while, do you consider this person’s departure the tremendous success of your life? Why do you think this happens? The reason is that you always live with your understanding and imagination of reality, not with reality itself. Why do you sometimes hate the person you have loved for a long time? This is because your perception of this person changes (even when that person is still the same).
Therefore, the first principle states that you should always think the map is different from the territory itself! You only understand a map of the world’s reality and your life, and often this map is your limitation, not the reality itself! For example, a person may believe that progress and success are impossible due to the acute situation in his life. This belief is a map the said person has created of the reality of his life, and NLP science states that this map is never equal, not with reality. It is enough for this person to look around the world to realize how many others whose life situation was even worse than his have achieved great success.
2. Human life and the brain are systematic processes.
The second principle emphasizes that what happens inside a person, or in his communication with others and the surrounding world, is periodic and regular. If you have a terrible feeling, this bad feeling is due to the following. If you fall in love with someone, this problem has a scientific reason. This problem has a specific scientific reason and steps if you hate him. If you are depressed, you have neurological and intellectual pathways. You have chosen a certain one that ended up here. You must go through specific thought paths for this situation to happen.
All the models and methods of NLP science are based on these two principles and their combination. According to the attitude of this science, humans can never understand reality as it is, but instead, they can create a rich and valuable map of reality. Bring and use it to experience the fastest speed of personal growth. Humans will never be able to create a single map that is the best. But they can make the wealthiest possible map that will result in creating a fantastic situation for the inner world as well as the outer world. be a person
The founders of this science are John Grinder (pictured right, who studied linguistics) and Richard Bandler (pictured left, whose background was in mathematics), and the invention of this science. They were able to create a very accurate model for idealization. And create human success.
