When you see a series of things, do memories come to your mind and make you suffer?
If you have watched a trained dog, you will notice that, for example, as soon as his owner says “sit”, it will sit. When the owner puts his hand in a particular position, the dog does something else, such as sleep on the floor. It is suddenly hungry as soon as they show it its food dish. As soon as they fight it, it gets upset inside. In NLP science, we call this process conditioning or making an emotional button.
It means that you condition the dog that it is time to eat when it hears a particular bell. As a result, its saliva secretions have started, and it is hungry for food! In the meantime, if we tell people their behaviour is precisely like a dog’s, they will be agitated. Still, the truth is that people in society, especially at low levels of consciousness, are precisely like that. The dog given as an example is subject to conditioning and anchoring.
- They remember memory and get sad.
- They smell perfume and remember their ex.
In fact, more intelligent minds look at ordinary people precisely like dogs. It may be a bitter truth, but you should know these things.
Are you conditioned to certain things?!
- When you smell a particular perfume, do you remember your ex and get sad?
- When you see a specific place, for example, do you remember your mother or father (or anyone who is no longer with you) and feel sad?
- When you go to heights or a specific place, do you remember your childhood fall and getting scared?
- Are you sensitive to a particular word, letter, or sentence and if someone says it, you get outraged!?
If so, it’s time to get rid of this conditioning. The truth is that if these issues are happening to you, this behaviour is no different from how to control a trained dog. It is definitely time to rise above this level and end this conditioning.
How to get rid of an emotional button
There are many ways to end conditioning and eliminate an emotional button. Meditation and self-awareness are among the best choices, which, of course, many people are not in the mood for, and most are looking for temporary and quick solutions. Meditation, in simple language, means observing how different things condition you. Then, simultaneously, as you encounter the same things (for example, the smell of perfume or…), be careful that this is only a condition or an emotional button. It is a fabrication (not the truth), and maintain your presence at the moment. To learn meditation, there are various articles and audio files that you can refer to if needed.
Another way to eliminate an emotional button
But another way to end conditioning is to stop letting your mind condition you to something. Basically, the mind is the master of creating connections and connecting different things together. For example, if you drink soda with food several times, after repeating it a few times, the next time you want to eat, the mind will create a desire for soda in you.
Or for example, if you experience the feeling of love with a specific person several times, the mind mistakenly associates this feeling only with that person’s presence. Then you forget that love is a spiritual feeling that governs the entire world and the depth of existence and is unrelated to a single person. Or does not have a specific time and place.
If from now on, you constantly diversify your behaviours and end repetitive behaviours (don’t drink soda with food every time!), in this case, the mind will no longer be able to establish this relationship and become conditioned in a way.
